Mudcloth Symbols

Authentic, traditional Mudcloth handwoven in Mali, Africa. It is more than decorative fabric, it is the beautiful language, the spirit and art of a natural people.  It is an artistic expression and communication as each symbol means something reflective of life, nature and the universe. African artisans hand-dye symbols into these fabrics in order to tell stories of their villages and African proverbs.  Natural dyes are made from mud and plants. Traditional African Mudcloth sheets are handwoven and made one at a time. No two pieces are exactly alike and the same patterns vary from one piece to the next or from one artist to another.

These authentic decorative textiles can be hung on the wall, placed on the bed, thrown over a chair or couch or sewn into a creation of your making. Due to the handmade nature of this traditional Mudcloth, it may contain minor imperfections, giving you a truly unique piece. Best to wash by hand.  This piece has been pre-washed for your convenience and is ready for use.
